2. What Happened To Those Kryptonian Scouting Parties?
There's an enduring mystery that Man of Steel left behind, and it concerns those Kryptonian scouting parties the movie simply glosses over.
When General Zod is outlining his plan to terraform Earth, he reveals that Kryptonians have been traversing the universe in search of a new home, with some of them even establishing colonies.
Apparently Zod and his minions found only death when they visited said colonies, but it seems a stretch to think a race that's technologically advanced enough to terraform planets would have such little success surviving off-world.
Did all of these refugees simply keel over and die? A popular fan theory suggests they didn't - it claims the DC Extended Universe's Atlanteans and Amazons are actually descendants of these Kryptonian scouts who settled on Earth.
This idea seems a little outlandish and would undermine Superman's status as the Last Son of Krypton, but there has to be a better explanation about what happened to those scouts than 'they died'.
