10 Dead Characters Returning For Future Movie Sequels

2. Colonel Miles Quaritch - Avatar 2

How He Died

After making quite the name for himself as the bad guy in the first Avatar, Stephen Lang's Colonel Quaritch proved himself human and vulnerable after all by dying. As he's about to land a killer blow on Jake's avatar, Neytari swoops in last minute and kills him with two arrows to the chest.

But Wait...

Like Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang has been confirmed for Avatar 2 and the other two movies that are also being made (at the very least). Not only that, but he's going to be the main villain in all of the movies, which is always a difficult thing to achieve when you're actually dead.

According to Lang, his arc is going to be complex as well:

"I can tell you that we’re deeply, deeply into the shooting. We’re by no means finished. Quaritch, his place in this particular universe has gotten more complicated. And that’s kind of the extent of his involvement in the world. The world begins to – the world of Pandora – begins to affect him quite deeply in ways that he either refused or it did not affect him. And it gets under his skin.”

Will It Be Explained?

Again, James Cameron's "no-one dies in sci-fi" comment, we can definitely explain some sort of complicated narrative explanation. There's no way they're just going to pretend the deaths didn't happen at all, surely?
