10 Deadliest Planets In Star Wars

5. Starkiller Base/Ilum

Ilum, more commonly referred to as 'Starkiller Base', was a frozen world in the Unknown Regions and weaponised as a new Death Star for the First Order.

As a First Order stronghold, this repurposed ice world stood as a military garrison and was well equipped with Star Destroyers, Walkers and TIE Fighters, as well as legions of Stormtroopers.

On the icy surface and in the cooling tunnels, walkways and along the chasms, specialist Snowtroopers would patrol. Turbolasers and shield generators constructed on the planet's surface also made air assaults perilous and landings problematic.

Built into the crust: a superweapon with the power to devastate entire star systems. Fuelled by Kyber Crystals - the same power source for both the Jedi lightsaber and the original Death Stars - this monolithic weapon was designed to be an unstoppable force in the Galaxy.

With the Kyber Crystals located deep below Ilum's frozen forests, the Empire had begun mining a huge trench long before the First Order's occupation. This made much of the planet unstable and prone to collapsing in on itself.
