Burned alive in a manner so brutal that they actually named the whole film 'The Burning'. Caretaker Cropsy was victim to a cruel prank at summer camp gone wrong when brats set fire to his shed... with him in it. Poor Cropsy never recovered, physically or mentally, and his vengeful return was inevitable.

Infamous 70s video nasty The Burning is the best of the many Friday the 13th rip-offs, thanks in no small part to its compelling villain and his tragic backstory.

That the Hollywood remake factory hasn't gotten its mitts on it already is surprising, but the story of Cropsy and his revenge remains a horrifying one, even today. Keep an eye out too, for a young George from Seinfeld as, uh, the camp hunk. Now that is scary.
