A happy ending is hinted at when Aladdin rocks up with the genie and Jasmin is granted a wish that reverses the events of her dismemberment but then she ends up marrying Jafar who kills her father which in turn embitters the princess who becomes the most barbaric ruler Agrabah has ever seen.
A Beauty and the Beast themed story takes place during the French Revolution and though Belle is pro-revolution her association with the aristocratic Beast vexes an angry mob who put her on trial for treason and send her to the guillotine for a good, old beheading.
Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel and Snow White all have similarly grim stories and fates.
