4. Clash Of The Titans (2010)
In the wake of Avatar, production companies smelt money in 3D. But it had taken 14 years from conception to its record smashing release and, like a kid in a toy shop, they wanted the money now. Obviously, like anything in the industry, good quality product takes time, but they ignored over a centurys worth of experience and went for a quick conversion in 3D during post-production. Its the equivalent of turning black and white film into colour by going over each frame in felt tip. Clash of the Titans was by all accounts, a terrible movie, but its gone down in history as one of the worst uses of 3D. Avatar had just left cinemas and already substandard attempts to cash in were appearing. In typical fashion of these early days however, the film did well enough to make a handsome profit and green light a sequel; no matter the quality of the conversion, people were still smitten with the technology.
