10 Delayed Movies That Will Land In 2021 And Still Bomb At The Box Office

The video game movie might be experiencing something of a minor resurgence after Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog became the first and so far only two entries in the genre's entire history to score Fresh ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, but Lara Croft's return doesn't exactly seem destined to set the world alight.

Alicia Vikander followed the tried-and-tested route of a freshly-minted Academy Award winner tackling a big-budget action flick, and while she was undoubtedly the best thing in Tomb Raider by a country mile, the rest of the movie that surrounded her was about as bland and uninspired as you'd expect from an origin story riddled with cliches.

That being said, it did manage to rake in a respectable $275m at the global box office, but it was a huge disappointment domestically, and given how quickly it faded from the collective memory there aren't a whole lot of people crying out for Warner Bros. to sink $150m into a sequel despite rumors of Tomb Raider 2 taking a more supernatural angle than the first installment.
