10 Delayed Movies That Will Land In 2021 And Still Bomb At The Box Office
2. Fantastic Beast 3
It always seemed like a cynical cash-grab on Warner Bros.' part to stretch out a fictional textbook that was originally written to raise money for charity into five mega-budget Harry Potter prequels, and while Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was a solid enough return to the Wizarding World, the wheels are starting to look a little shaky already.
Crimes of Grindelwald turned out to be the worst movie in the franchise yet by quite some distance, packed full of mind-numbing exposition, pointless supporting characters and a third-act twist that split the fanbase right down the middle. It would be fair to say that expectations have been dampened for the third installment as a result, and if Fantastic Beasts 3 marks yet another downturn in fortunes then they might not even make it to number five.
Having already seen takings drop by almost $150m between the first and second movies, as well as reviews taking a sharp nosedive to boot, Fantastic Beasts 3 is expected to cost at least $200m to produce and almost the same again to market, meaning that the Wizarding World can't really afford another high-profile misstep.
