10 Delayed Sequels That Really Weren't Worth The Wait

2. The Godfather Part III (16 Years)

The Godfather Part III isn't as terrible as people would have you believe (well, apart from Sofia Coppola's 'acting'), but when compared to its illustrious predecessors the trilogy-closing chapter is vastly inferior. While the first two installments are rightly regarded as two of the greatest movies ever made, the final installment is nothing more than adequate, even though it ended up being nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. Francis Ford Coppola had turned down the chance to make a third Godfather for years, but the catastrophe that was One from the Heart saw the director finally accept the other as a financially-motivated decision. The movie came burdened with unrealistic expectations, but still suffers greatly from a very slow-moving narrative that fails to come anywhere close to matching the level of detail, performance and characterization that made the first two entries unmissable cinema.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
