8. Alternate Opening - Scream 4
A fitting end to the Scream series when it came out in 2011, the fourth entry into the franchise cleaned up the bad smell that was left behind with number 3, bringing back the qualities that made the first films so brilliant with a healthy splash of blood. Scream 4's opening, however, was a bit much - playing on the meta commentary that the films have become famous for a little too enthusiastically with multiple skits and fake outs.
The alternate opening for the movie is one that feels like a much neater fit, keeping everything within one storyline whilst playing on the pranks and grisly consequences of messing with the Ghostface legacy. As two girls set to fool each other by pretending the ghostly villain is attacking them, they stop to return to the movie before the real slasher actually appears - killing them both as they face him in disbelief.
