It's well documented that Tarantino cut a lot of filmed material from Inglorious Basterds, though in this case the aftermath of one excised scene is actually visible in the final cut.

Following the tavern shootout, Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) is treated at a vet clinic while Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) grills her about what went wrong.

If you pay close attention, you can see two dead dogs in the cages behind the characters, due to a grim section that was cut from the start of the scene. In this beat, the Basterds coerce the vets into treating Bridget by having Donny Donowitz (Eli Roth) shoot two of their dogs in cold blood.

Given that the final cut makes it pretty clear that Donowitz is a thoroughly unhinged individual, this may simply have been too much for many to stomach. As fascinating a scene as it is, it was probably a sensible cut all things considered.
