3. T2: Trainspotting - A Nostalgic Chase
T2: Trainspotting was a welcome return for Renton and co which successfully recaptured the essence of the original, and it would have done that in a more literal sense if this scene had avoided the cutting room floor.
The original plan was to have Spud and Renton reenact the iconic chase scene which opened the first movie after shoplifting an iPad from an Apple store.
The pair head to the shop to buy a laptop for Spud so he can write up his stories, but the scene becomes a heady retro flight when his old friend coaxes him into nicking a tablet and legging it. They speed past the Omni Centre to the old train depot in Leith, in a beat-for-beat recreation of the original scene.
T2 was already steeped in nostalgia, and that was one of the best things about it. This scene would have been a welcome inclusion and a fan-pleasing callback.
