10 Deleted Scenes That Would Have Ruined Their Movies

4. Aragorn Vs Sauron - The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King

It's impossible to deny the fact that Peter Jackson's adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien's epic fantasy series The Lord Of The Rings is something of a cinematic triumph - few movies can compare when it comes to lavish production values and commitment to crafting a fully realised and authentic fantasy world. For the most part, fans of the original novels were more than satisfied with his vision, although perhaps their opinion would have differed had he included one particular scene from The Return Of The King in the final cut. The scene in question sees Aragorn facing off against Sauron in physical form outside the Black Gate. Fortunately Jackson changed his mind at the last minute and replaced Sauron with the giant troll we're all familiar with. It's a good thing - the main appeal to Sauron's character is the fact that he exists outside the temporal realm as we know it, and the Eye of Sauron alone is more than enough to instill the right amount of menace and fear.
