10 Deleted Scenes That Would Have Ruined Their Movies

3. Musical Quint - Jaws

Steven Spielberg's 1975 film Jaws give us the first "animal attack" movie while at the same time introducing the world to the summer blockbuster. One of the most memorable characters in Jaws is undoubtedly Quint, the old timer fisherman whom Chief Brody enlists to take to the waves and hunt down the killer great white shark. Quint has a number of excellent scenes which really flesh out his character - not least the one in which he bares his scars and tells of his ordeal with a pack of tiger sharks - but one deleted scene was best left omitted. It shows Quint going into a music shop to buy piano wire where he torments a young boy attempting to play Beethoven's Ode to Joy on the clarinet. To say that the scene is superfluous to both the film and his character is stating the obvious - thankfully Spielberg understood this himself and left it out of the theatrical release. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfX1MkMazwc
