10 Deleted Stars That Were Bigger Than The Final Movie
5. Sarah Jessica Parker - Lovelace
Sarah Jessica Parker remains to this day one of the most talked-about people on Earth, regularly pasted across the pages of gossip and fashion mags even though Sex And The City has been off air for over a decade and despite the accepted fact that its spin-off movies were rubbish. Parker's fame didn't prevent her from getting ousted, though, from Lovelace, Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's biopic of 1970s porn star Linda Lovelace. Epstein and Friedman clearly wanted a star attraction in the role of feminist writer and social activist Gloria Steinem, as Demi Moore was originally set to play her. When Moore dropped out for 'personal reasons', Parker took over, in a last-minute casting coup that saw her up against leads Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard, and a cameoing James Franco (whose fame, at the time of Lovelace's release, hadn't yet reached peak Franco for him to sufficiently out-fame Parker). Parker wasn't included in the theatrical release, however, when the directors decided her scenes were ultimately unnecessary. Her Sex And The City co-star Chris Noth made it into the final cut though, so no doubt she was thrilled about that.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
