10 Detestable Movie Villains We Never See

4. Mitch & Murray - Glengarry Glen Ross

Ferris Bueller's Day Off Cameron
New Line Cinema

There's no villain quite so infuriating as corporate greed itself, embodied in Glengarry Glen Ross by Mitch and Murray, who are implied to be the owners of the real estate agency the four central salesmen are working at.

Mitch and Murray's decision to pit the four salesmen against one another, making them compete to keep their jobs in a "sales contest," is bad enough, but sending top salesman Blake (Alec Baldwin) to berate and "motivate" them into action is downright abusive.

With the majority of the film focused on the central quartet as they battle to keep their jobs, we never actually see Mitch and Murray at all.

And it's thematically perfect - they've got so little regard for their salesmen that they won't even come down to the office and do the dirty work themselves, instead sending Blake to do it as a so-called "mission of mercy."

That the owners of the business are totally detached and insulated from the ugly stuff is so true to life and makes them that much more detestable.
