10 Detestable Movie Villains We Never See

2. Cameron's Dad - Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Though we certainly see plenty of villain Dean Rooney (Jeffrey Jones) throughout Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the film's other antagonist of note never once appears on screen, though actually becomes an altogether more imposing figure as a result.

We're talking of course about Mr. Frye, the domineering and abusive father of Ferris' (Matthew Broderick) best pal Cameron (Alan Ruck), who clearly values his 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder more than his own son.

Evidently, it's Cameron's father's fault that he's such a timid, depressed hypochondriac, and though Cameron seemingly evolves into a more self-actualised person by film's end, we're left to speculate on precisely how his father will react to his son destroying his prized car - and how Cameron will deal with that.

All in all, Mr. Frye wouldn't be nearly as effective a villain if we actually met him - his absenteeism throughout the story instead grants him a strangely mythic quality for a mere flesh-and-blood man.
