10 Diabolical Movie Mistakes You Won't Believe They Made TWICE

3. Original Cast Reunions - Jurassic World Dominion & Ghosbusters: Frozen Empire

Jurassic World Dominion, the third movie in the rebooted Jurassic Park series, was one of the first big post-COVID cinema releases and moviegoers were rewarded with a stacked old cast.

Alongside modern stars like Bryce Dallas Howard and the aforementioned Mr. Pratt, Jurassic World Dominion also reunited the main trio from the first Jurassic movie, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.

In 2024, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, another instalment in a reboot of a classic series, pulled this same trick by bringing back Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Bill Murray to reprise their parts from the original film.

Unfortunately, neither of these decisions resulted in particularly great movies.

Both Dominion and Frozen Empire relied way too heavily on their shiny cameos, instead of crafting something new and fresh. Instead of loving homages to the past, these reunions felt more like cheap cashgrabs that harmed the reputation of their predecessors, especially when Dominion made the infuriating call to get Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler together.

Nostalgia is nice and all, but not when it comes at the expense of the franchise's future.
