10 Director's Cuts We'd Rather See Than Snyder's Justice League
7. Martin
As long as we're talking about resurrecting the dead to ensure our cinematic demands are met, we may as well look at one of the lost treasures from the master of the zombie film. George A. Romero took a break from examining the collapse of society through various classes to visit another staple of horror mythology: The vampire.
Romero's vampire Martin, however, has more in common with the brooding Edward from Twilight; he doesn't burn up in the sun, he mopes about his situation and he longs for companionship. That he drugs women to slit their wrists and suck their blood also puts a terrifying new spin on the vampire genre.
Martin is a vampire precisely because he's been raised to believe he's a vampire - religious zealotry hammered into him for years by his old-world Catholic grand-uncle in Pennsyl(not Transyl-)vania. Romero's original cut ran around 2 hours and 49 minutes and was featured in black and white, but producer Richard Rubenstein strongly objected.
At Q & As for decades after, fans have asked about the elusive cut, but the director always regrettably responded that he couldn't track down all the footage.
