8. J.J. Abrams
J.J. Abrams will only direct Star Wars: The Force Awaken, in large part due to the fact that so much of the production took place in the UK and kept him away from his family. Had that not been the case, you have to imagine that he might just have directed all three. Abrams also won't be finished working in a Galaxy Far, Far Away until Star Trek 3 has already begun shooting with Justin Lin at the helm, so that franchise definitely won't be his next job. However, with Marvel and Lucasfilm under the same Disney umbrella, is it really so hard to believe that he could be talked into taking on the next Spider-Man movie for them and Sony? After all, if there's one thing Spidey desperately needs, it's lens flares (sorry). All jokes aside though, and an Abrams directed superhero movie is long overdue. He's a great director, and one who could end up turning out one of the most exciting and dynamic entries into this genre yet. Abrams is also someone who has shown again and again that he respects the material he's working with, and for a character like Spider-Man and his many fans who want an authentic take on the superhero, that's vitally important.
