Jon Favreau has enjoyed a diverse career directing a mixture of broadly appealing dramas and blockbuster flicks, though is unquestionably best known for helming the first two Iron Man movies (and also starring in all three). Though Favreau may be a little exhausted from the big-budget game going by his latest movie, the superb Chef, which not-so-subtly expressed his frustration at the creativity-averse studio machine, could he really bring himself to turn down Episode IX if it was thrown at his feet? Still, with The Jungle Book preparing to go into production and an adaptation of The Elfstones of Shannara in the pipeline, Favreau is looking to be busy for at least the next 2 or 3 years, and he might not want to dive straight into as time-demanding a project as a Star Wars movie afterwards. On the other hand, if his latter project falls through (as inevitably happens in Hollywood), perhaps he'd jump at the chance. If Disney want a dependably skillful, experienced director, they could opt for few better than Favreau, as long as the script is in good shape. How Likely Is It? 5/10
