10 Directors Who Will Ruin Upcoming Films
1. Zack Snyder And Joss Whedon - Justice League
In all fairness to Joss Whedon, it sounds like Justice League was a mess before he got his hands on it, but his involvement has placed too many cooks in the Watchtower's kitchen.
When Zack Snyder left the project due to a family tragedy, the film he left behind was dubbed "unwatchable" during test screenings, which is about the worst thing a movie has ever been called.
Snyder's gritty approach and penchant for superhero deconstruction has never been a great fit for clean-cut good guys like Superman, and that coupled with apparent studio interference is likely what left Justice League in such a bad way.
So Whedon, a filmmaker with a radically different style to Snyder, is brought in to guide the project over the finish line and head up reshoots to the tune of $25 million.
It will be nothing short of a miracle if a film that was deemed to need so much post-production surgery turns out well, but it's the conflicting styles of the two directors that will ultimately be its downfall.
Justice League is running the risk of becoming a Frankenstein's Monster of a picture with jarring tonal inconsistencies.
