10 Directors Who Will Ruin Upcoming Films

For better or for worse, Warner Bros are pursuing a movie about Batman's arch-nemesis The Joker with The Hangover director Todd Phillips involved.

Having Philips as part of the creative team isn't a terrible idea. Dark comedy is, after all, a part of Mister J's repertoire, but appointing a director who's worked almost exclusively within this genre is a mistake.

Reports suggest the Hangover helmer is attached as writer and he's also linked with the director's chair, but the man in the hotseat should somebody with extensive experience in the comic book genre, or at least with a more diverse portfolio.

Martin Scorsese is also said to have a producer's credit, which would be great since his background in gritty crime would serve the project well, although the extent of his creative involvement is unknown.

One thing is for sure, though - having Philips, a man without the necessary experience, head up The Joker film is a rookie mistake on the studio's part.
