10 Directors With The Most Movies In The IMDb Top 250

4. Martin Scorsese (7)

The Movies: Goodfellas, The Departed, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Wolf of Wall Street, Casino, Shutter Island As critic Mario Reading once wrote: "In purely filmic terms, Scorsese's real talent lies in his capacity to mould dialogue, movement and sound into one fluid, cinematic whole," a point he emphasises was perfected in Scorsese's highest-ranking IMDb movie, Goodfellas - and rightly so. And it's probably true that this "fluid, cinematic whole" that the director has become renowned for is what makes a Martin Scorsese picture so damn watchable. His films flow with a kind of effortlessness less experienced directors often try and fail to imitate. Scorsese's later pictures are perhaps more reminiscent of this trait, as most recently witnessed by The Wolf of Wall Street, but there are elements of this style scattered across his filmography and in masterpieces such as Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. It's not at all surprising that Scorsese has wound up with 7 movies in the IMDb Top 250; his pictures bridge the difficult gap between entertainment and artistry, which seems to common amongst movies that have found their way into the list. But few do it as well as Martin Scorsese does - if any at all.
