Scorsese's later pictures are perhaps more reminiscent of this trait, as most recently witnessed by The Wolf of Wall Street, but there are elements of this style scattered across his filmography and in masterpieces such as Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. It's not at all surprising that Scorsese has wound up with 7 movies in the IMDb Top 250; his pictures bridge the difficult gap between entertainment and artistry, which seems to common amongst movies that have found their way into the list. But few do it as well as Martin Scorsese does - if any at all.
