10. Mindhunters (2004)

After making a splash with Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger, Renny Harlin put the kibosh on becoming an A-list action director with Cutthroat Island, The Long Kiss Goodnight and Driven. Mindhunters was his chance to redeem himself, but instead it€™s another nail in the coffin of his career. Following the 10 Little Indians template, the movie dispatches a group of rookie FBI agents to a remote island for a training exercise that turns sinister when their leader, played by Christian Slater, is sprayed with helium, which (as any doctor will tell you) causes his body to shatter when it hits the floor. After their boat is destroyed, the remaining members are polished off in increasingly unlikely ways (note to trainees: splitting up with a killer on the loose is not advised), the nadir of which is probably the acid-laced cigarette that eats through the skin of its victim.
