Fan expectations are a tricky thing, and coming off of one of the greatest comic book movies ever, Age Of Ultron had an impossible standard to live up to. No one really thought it could top The Avengers, and while it was still a good action film, it still left a number of fans wanting for more.

In the wake of Joss Whedon’s public statements standing up for the film, it’s important to recognize that while Age Of Ultron may not be perfect, or even one of Marvel’s best, it’s still a very solid, well-made movie, with plenty to like about it.

Whether it’s the view into Hawkeye’s home life, the scene where everyone tries to lift Thor’s hammer, or the opening set piece, Age Of Ultron is brimming with great moments. They may be bogged down with a poor villain and some overcrowding, but those are hardly enough to ruin the whole thing, especially once you accept the film for what it is.

Give the benefit of time and some lowered expectations, Age Of Ultron is still a great blockbuster film and does an admirable job of defining a turning point in the cumbersome MCU, even if it wasn't the perfect sequel many fans wanted.
