10 Disappointing Comic Book Movies That Deserve A Second Chance

6. Batman Forever

It’s apparent that after the successes of Christopher Nolan’s dark and real take on the character, it’s going to be a while before we see a ‘fun’ Batman film ever again. So while Batman Forever is littered with mistakes, contrivances and thinly-written characters, it’s a welcome turn to go back and see this very different side to the character.

The neon-Gotham and over the top villains aren’t exactly successes but they show the versatility to Batman's universe. This is an energetic, fast-paced film that believes in in the more campy nature of the character. And while that may make for a film of lesser quality, that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyed as it is.

Ben Affleck's Batman might have been the best part of Batman V Superman but there's no question that Zack Snyder's somber take on everything soured many viewers. Batman Forever can be a good palette-cleanser afterwards by offering a silly, straightforward, popcorn film.

It definitely leans too far on the camp factor but that’s what makes it re-watchable. This is a film that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and as audience, we shouldn’t either.
