10 Most Disappointing Comic Book Movies Of All-Time

1. Man Of Steel (2013)

The trailers. The trailers for Man Of Steel, which seemed to promise giddy comic book fans the Batman Begins of Superman movies, were presumably the main reason as to why Zack Snyder's tone-deaf reboot failed to live up to the hype. In just a couple of minutes, the trailers packed more emotion, tension and excitement into their running time than the movie did in two and a half exhaustive hours of people punching one another through skyscrapers and Hans Zimmer's headache-inducing score. Did the wonderful teasers ensure disappointment was inevitable? Bombastic, loud and messy, Man Of Steel actually makes Superman Returns look like something of a relative triumph; here's a superhero flick that appeared so destined for greatness, given the fact that Christopher Nolan - fresh off of the back of his Dark Knight trilogy - was credited as a producer, that it feels downright illegal that it actually came out so darn generically. Not a single aspect feels fresh or innovative - its action scenes, its characters; all dull and humourless. Sure, it's pretty to look at, but just like Superman's iconic Fortress of Solitude, it leaves you feeling cold. Like this article? Let us know in the comments section below.
