10 Disappointing Movies That Killed Our Nostalgia
8. Blues Brothers 2000
Blue Brothers 2000 was one of the earliest examples of Hollywood realising it could make some serious money through nostalgia alone. The original Blue Brothers movie, released back in 1980, is a musical cult classic, and one of the most hilariously over-the-top, action-packed comedies ever. A reunion film that brought together the original cast 18 years later could have been good fun, if done properly.
Unfortunately, the brilliant John Belushi died in 1982, and even John Goodman wasn't able to live up to the comedy giant. The musical sequences weren't as bad as they could have been, but the comedy was half-baked, and it suffered from less-than-impressive action sequences. Blues Brothers 2000, rather than being a nostalgic throwback to the original, just made us a little sad that we'll never see the dynamic duo of Belushi and Aykroyd together ever again.
