10 Disney Villains Who Were Just Misunderstood

5. Hades Was Just A Guy Who Hates His Job

DisneyDisneyAll the sympathy in the world to Hades, man. He's got two brothers who think they are just the bee's knees, and that everything they do is perfect (even though how many women did Zeus trick into sex? Was there ever a legit count on that?). The poor guy is relegated to the underworld, where all the creepy dead people live, and then they're all surprised when he plots to get out of the bad situation. He would actually probably make a pretty good ruler of Olympus -- he's a smart guy and a seriously shrewd negotiator. That would give Zeus more time to turn himself into a bull and impregnate women or whatever he did while Hera had her back turned. He was entirely competent in the Underworld and seemed to be a straight shooter, not the kind of guy who would tolerate all the court intrigue that undoubtedly took place on Olympus. Hell, from the very beginning he's totally honest with the other gods about the fact that he's planning their downfall. All we're saying is that we can understand the resentment that he feels towards the rest of the gods -- Hades has historically never been a particularly evil figure, yet he's the one who ends up with the crappiest job of them all.
