10 Disney Villains Who Went Beyond Evil

1. Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty)

Frollo Hunchback Of Notre Dame
Disney

She didn’t earn the title of “The Mistress of all Evil” for nothing.

Right from her very first entrance, with that haunting Bruns musical underscore playing underneath, Maleficent is recognisably wicked. With a seemingly calm nature and a soft-spoken voice, her physical features are so striking, that she is somehow beautiful. Her defined jawline, those devilish horns, a gorgeous colour-combo of purple and green to complete her appearance - you simultaneously fear her but feel enticed by her presence all the same.

Maleficent clearly takes pride in her work. She has great authority and command just by the way she says “Listen well, all of you”. She unashamedly cursed a new born baby just because she wasn’t invited to a party. She likes to make people suffer and watch it happen, such as when she tricked Prince Philip into entering the cottage just to cackle in pleasure as he was attacked by her servants.

And you definitely don’t want to annoy her – remember when she got into an explosive, fiery rage after her minions failed their duties and went as far as electrocuting some of them.

The final climax between her and Philip is a breath-taking sequence to view – it’s a stormy night as Maleficent summons all the power of hell to transform her into a dragon. In a blaze of green flames, she howls with laughter believing she is about to defeat Philip until with the help of the fairies, he just barely wins against the mistress of all evil as she is stabbed with the sword of truth.

As Sleeping Beauty is a Disney fairytale, it’s got to have a happy ending which is why Maleficent HAD to die. Realistically though, we all know she would have won that fight easily. But the most bizarre part of Maleficent is that for all her devilish crimes and wickedness, she is somehow everyone’s favourite character from Sleeping Beauty.

Disney’s most evil villain? Maleficent.
