10 Disney Villains Who Went Beyond Evil
3. The Coachman (Pinocchio)
Look at that image above. If that doesn’t scare you, what can? Even Honest John and Gideon were quaking at this particular Disney jump scare.
Pinocchio is one of the very few Disney movies where the villains outnumber the heroes. This is expected though since it’s a dark, cautionary fairytale which basically warns children of the dangers of the outside world.
There’s the anthropomorphic fox and cat duo, Honest John and Gideon who take advantage of the little wooden boy for greed purposes. And there’s also puppeteer Stromboli who enslaved Pinocchio to use for his marionette show. Even the final climax involved Pinocchio and his father escaping from a beastly whale named Monstro.
The most despicable of them all, however, is by far the Coachman. Essentially, he is the old-fashioned version of tempting kids into strange vans with the promise of candy.
He’s a conniving man of great power who lured several innocent boys into his trap with the luxury of pleasure Island only to turn them into donkeys in which they’d presumably either be sold or killed. He’s obviously got magic powers if he can turn children into animals and furthermore, he doesn’t have an issue with child slavery or animal abuse.
It’s all the more harrowing to realise The Coachman gets away with these crimes unpunished and as far as we know, remains at large abducting boys and growing in wealth through his criminal schemes.
