10 Disturbing Scenes Cut From Comic Book Movies

9. Red Mist - The Wolverine

The Dark Knight Lau Death
20th Century Fox

If there’s one X-Men character worthy of a solo adventure it’s Wolverine, yet X-Men Origins made a complete hash of it. So a lot of riding on The Wolverine to improve things and while it's hardly perfect it was a definite step in the right direction.

The character has never been allowed to get too messy on film, since parents frown on taking their kids to a superhero flick where the hero dismembers people with his claws. The Wolverine helmer James Mangold wanted to push the boundaries a little, and shot extra gore to see how much he could get away with.

He sneaked some into the theatrical version, but had to withhold most of it for an extended Blu-ray cut. This includes a much bloodier fight with Wolverine facing off against the ninjas, including a whole segment where his ally Yukio mows them down with a snow blower, decorating the village with their guts.

That’s obviously too much for young kids, so out it came.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
