10 Disturbing Scenes Cut From Comic Book Movies

8. Dead Children - Blade

Blade and X-Men are the two movies that finally made comic book movies hip, and – for better or worse – they’re responsible for the era we live in now. Wesley Snipes was never cooler than the day walking half-vampire, which is why fans are still holding out hope he could return some day for a reboot.

The film is a good deal gorier than modern comic book movies, with limbs and heads being lopped off and the occasional exploding body or two. The violence is usually cartoonish laughs and the film actually scaled back on a couple of darker scenes to keep things light.

One such deletion featured Pearl, the ultra-obese vampire librarian. The scene is played for laughs, but the director decided to remove a subplot where Blade finds the bodies of dead children littered around Pearl. That’s because the vampire was so fat he was thrown children to feed on.

This grim detail was left out, but it explains why Blade is quite sadistic with him in the final scene.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
