10 Disturbing Scenes Cut From Comic Book Movies

3. Judge Griffin's Dismemberment - Judge Dredd

The Dark Knight Lau Death
Buena Vista

While the 1995 Judge Dredd movie might be a critically panned mess, it’s still a somewhat entertaining mess. It’s a terrible adaptation of the comic but the hammy performances, impressive set design and pacey action makes it hard to completely hate.

The movie was supposed to be PG-13, but the film was too spicy for the MPAA and was lumbered with an R, limiting its audience. It’s a wonder the studio didn’t realise it was way too violent looking at the dailies, which featured people being torn apart by gunfire and necks being viciously snapped.

The nastiest scene featured the traitorous Judge Griffin having his arms and legs torn off by a robot. The final film has a glimpse of this, but it was much more graphic as originally shot.
