Unlike a lot of the entries on this list, it seems that this one tried very hard to shake off their history with Doctor Who for many years, until recently. Christopher Eccleston will always be known for being the "absolutely fantastic" Ninth Doctor.

When it was announced that Doctor Who was to return in 2005 the papers where a wash of actors who could take up the keys to the TARDIS. Names on this list included the likes of Hugh Grant, Paul Daniels and Richard E. Grant. It came as some shock when it was announced on the 20th of March 2004 that the Doctor would be played by Eccleston.

Not only loved for bringing the series a sense of realism, but Eccleston is also known for his short but sweet time as The Doctor lasting only one series in the show. His time came to an end after the actor quit as he came head to head with showrunner Russell T. Davies.

Wanting to remove himself from the world of Doctor Who, Eccleston starred in a number of other projects including Heroes and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. But it was in 2013 when Eccleston joined the cast of the MCU as Malekith, the leader of the Dark Elves. Starring in Thor: The Dark World and G.I. Joe, two big well-known properties much have been good fun for any actor right? Well...

"Working on something like GI Joe was horrendous. I just wanted to cut my throat every day. And Thor? Just a gun in your mouth. Gone in 60 Seconds was a good experience. Nic Cage is a gentleman and fantastic actor. But GI Joe and Thor were …I really paid for being a whore those times."
