10 Dream MCU Projects Disney Will (Probably) Never Make

5. The OG Defenders

The (Original) Defenders

Okay, so, you've probably heard of The Defenders. But have you heard of the Defenders? There's a big distinction to be made, because while one team has only been going since 2017, the other has been around since the 1970s.

So, what's the main difference? Well the new group were made after Netflix decided to use the original's name to christen their group of street-level vigilantes, while the first team was a strip comprised of a rag-tag band of Marvel characters who, under usual circumstances, wouldn't be considered team players.

The original group featured the likes of Doctor Strange, Hulk, Namor and the Silver Surfer as they battled an assortment of supernatural threats. It was a genius concept and, over the years, Marvel have been prone to shaking up the team in more ways than one.

Unfortunately, due to the fact The Defenders IP is synonymous with the street level group, and also because the MCU would probably struggle to justify adding another ensemble to their ranks - especially when the main roster are more likely to stay with the Avengers anyway - an adaptation of the OG Defenders seems like a pipe dream for now.
