10 Dumb Decisions In The DC Extended Universe We Can't Forgive

2. Aquaman's First Visit To Atlantis

Superman Justice League
Warner Bros.

Say what you will about Zack Snyder and his work, but there's no denying that the director is ambitious. His ideas for Justice League (and a sequel set in a post-apocalyptic future) were huge, but thanks to Joss Whedon, the vast majority of what he shot ended up on the cutting room floor. Now, Whedon's job wasn't an easy one, but there's one reshoot, in particular, he royally screwed up.

In a bid to make Justice League more standalone in nature and to not interfere too much with what James Wan had planned for his Aquaman movie, Arthur Curry's first meeting with Mera was completely overhauled. What followed was a bizarre meeting with them exchanging words in a bubble.

That's despite the fact both Atlanteans are supposed to be able to talk underwater, and while Wan hadn't finished working on his movie at this point, surely the common sense thing to do would have been having them meet on dry land? That was Snyder's plan anyway, but Whedon's good first visit to Atlantis was both dumb and another serious blow to the DCEU's continuity!
