10 Dumbest Character Resurrections In Star Wars History

9. Eeth Koth

Eeth Koth was a Jedi Master that used to sit on the Jedi Council way back in Episode I.

No, I don't remember him either.

Still, it shows just how dedicated Star Wars is to expanding on its lesser-known characters.

Koth was planned to have been killed off during the battle on Geonosis in Episode II. This is evidenced by his extremely brief appearance early on in the second prequel film and total absence in Episode III.

Thankfully for those interested in Koth's story, it was expanded upon in The Clone Wars TV series. The creator, Dave Filoni, was not allowed to use the character due to his canonical death until the King of Retcons, George Lucas, gave permission to resurrect him instead.

Not only did Koth survive Geonosis, but he also ended up surviving Order 66 and became a father. Eventually, he was hunted down and killed by Vader and his inquisitors.

Thus began a strange pattern for Star Wars, resurrecting background characters only to kill them off slightly later. With Koth already replaced by unexplored Kolar, what did anyone really gain from retconning his death?

All fans were left with is another underdeveloped council member in the next film.
