3. Vision - Avengers: Infinity War

How He Dies

Vision has the rather unfortunate accolade of dying not once but TWICE in Avengers: Infinity War, once for love (and to save the universe) and then a second time when Thanos reverses time and removes the Mind Stone from his forehead with a large chunk of said appendage with it.

He had hoped that Scarlet Witch's destruction of the Stone and him would rid the world of the Mind Stone and protect everyone from Thanos getting his hands on everything.

Why It's Dumb

Right, you can use that handy hand-wave reasoning and say "it was the only way" to defeat Thanos, but making it impossible for Thanos to take all of the Stones would not have led to him clicking his fingers. It stands to reason.

The dumb thing about Vision dying the second time is that he is powerful enough to have ensured that Thanos could do nothing to him. In Age Of Ultron, when he's introduced, it's made plainly clear that he can control his atoms to make himself completely intangible. He can phase through anything he wants, which means that when Thanos revived him, he could have phased out and stopped the Titan from being able to cave his head in.

And then he could have simply flown away and hidden. Sure, it might not have been the longest term solution, but he could have given himself time to have the Mind Stone removed at the very least while running from Thanos. But no, instead he just forgot his powers existed.
