10 Dumbest Decisions Ever Made By MCU Villains

4. Ego Told Peter What He Did To His Mom

When Ego was first introduced as the father of Peter Quill, Star-Lord himself was more than a little skeptical. It was Gamora who convinced him to open his mind to the prospect of his father, and after seeing the light that he held within him, Quill embraced his newfound heritage.

Of course, Ego wasn’t just the father of the Guardian of the Galaxy, he was a villain who wanted to take over the entire universe. He needed the help of his offspring to complete his mission, and in Peter he finally found a son worthy.

Essentially using him as a battery or a conduit to the power of the light, Ego was able to reach every corner of the universe. However, he fell to the all-too-familiar trope of villains just not being able to shut up.

Had he kept his mouth closed, his Expansion would have been successful. Instead, for some reason, he decided to tell Peter that it was he who planted the terminal tumour in Meredith Quill’s head. He didn’t need to say this, it came completely out of the blue, and was what snapped Peter out of his control and into a blind rage.
