The Guardians of the Galaxy was the first movie to truly revolve around an Infinity Stone while actually explaining that it was an Infinity Stone. The Orb was the MCU’s Power Stone, and thanks to a handy video of the Collector’s, and a slave at the end of her rope, everyone got to see just how much power it had.

Once the stone was in the hands of Ronan the Accuser, the Guardians, the Ravagers, and the Nova Corps had one goal – to stop him from decimating Xandar. It would have been as easy as touching the stone to the planet’s surface and so a blockade was set up.

Though this held the villain at bay for a short while, he ultimately broke through and planted his feet on the surface, needing only to touch his Warhammer to the ground to ensure victory. Instead, he got distracted.

At any time during Peter Quill’s improvising, which literally consisted of nothing more than singing and dancing, Ronan could have destroyed the entire Xandarian civilization. This didn’t happen however, as his mind seemingly wandered, baffled by what was happening in front of him.
