10 Dumbest Decisions In Sci-Fi Movie History

9. Getting Pregnant During An Alien Invasion - A Quiet Place

John Krasinski's sci-fi horror film is a tightly-wound, character-driven alien invasion romp with a terrifically unique concept and a bevy of fantastic performances.

But enjoying A Quiet Place requires the audience to employ some pretty epic suspension of disbelief, that any apparently sensible person would dare get pregnant in an alien apocalypse.

Evelyn's (Emily Blunt) pregnancy serves as a major dramatic crux in the movie, but given the propensity for a pregnant woman to be extremely vulnerable and a newborn baby to be really bloody loud, it made Evelyn and her hubby Lee (Krasinski) look like total morons from the outset.

Obviously, it's possible the pregnancy was an accident and they weren't really in much of a position to seek out a "solution", but the film's implication seems to be that they decided to have another child to compensate for the one they lost in the film's opening scene. Which is stupid as hell.

What makes more sense - filling the child-sized void in your life with another one, at great risk to yourself and your entire family unit or, you know, focusing on keeping the remaining two you already have alive?

It's a great movie regardless, but if there's any scenario where getting pregnant makes you seem like a grade-A idiot, it's surely this one.
