Sam Raimi's Spider-Man was a groundbreaking film, which was insanely successful. In many ways, it paved the way for the later successes of the MCU, so it's certainly important in the world of comic book feature films. The first movie dealt with Spider-Man's origin, and his fight with the Green Goblin.

It was an amazing movie, and for the most part, Peter Parker made good decisions. There was one move that he made though which wasn't just a dumb decision, it really came around to bite him in the end.

When he went up against the Green Goblin for the final time, Spidey learned his true identity. It was Norman Osborn all along!

Someone he respected, and the father to his closest friend had tried to kill him... it was a lot to take in. When he revealed himself to Peter, it was all a ruse to lull him into a false sense of confidence, so he could ram him from behind with his glider.

Spider-Man's Spidey Sense went off, and he jumped clear, but Norman died by his own hand. Right before he succumbed to his injury, he asked that Peter not tell Harry the truth. Peter took this to heart, but in a terrible display of bad decision-making, he laid Norman's body to rest in his apartment, where he was seen by Harry.

That event sent Harry down the path of vengeance, thinking Spider-Man killed his father, that ended up playing out across both sequels, and it permanently drove a wedge between the two friends.
