10 Dumbest Decisions In The Fast And Furious Saga

7. Jesse Runs From Race Wars

Though neither the director, studio nor cast knew it at the time, 2001's The Fast And The Furious jump-started a sprawling franchise that would annihilate the box office, give Steven Seagal a run for the sillies, and make Michael Bay look like Terrence Malick.

Without the weight of Corona advertisements and The Rock bearing down on its shoulders, there is a lot to love in the relatively down-to-earth, unselfconscious action thriller that took Point Break and made it about 1990s tuners.

One of the characters from this entry that we unfortunately never get to see in the series again (for reasons which will soon become apparent) is Jesse (Chad Lindberg), the 'nerd' of the gang.

During Race Wars, Jesse bets his father's VW Jetta in a race against the film's villain, Vietnamese gang leader Johnny Tran (Rick Yune), and his Honda S2000. Upon losing the race, Jesse drives off in a panic, reneging on the agreed terms. And it doesn't take a genius to see that you should keep your word when dealing with violent thugs.

Well, the fruits of his idiocy come to bear, and soon poor Jesse is eating lead from Tran's uzi...

But hey, if Han can return from the grave, maybe there's hope for Jesse yet?
