10 Dumbest Decisions In Zombie Movie History

3. Not Stepping All The Way Back From The Laser Grid - Resident Evil

Ironically this entry has absolutely nothing to do with zombies whatsoever, though it is unquestionably the greatest scene in the entirety of Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil movie franchise.

When Alice (Milla Jovovich) and a commando unit head to the chamber of Umbrella's A.I. The Red Queen, a laser defense system is activated in the hallway, trapping the commandos inside.

A series of lasers are fired at the squad, picking them off one-by-one until only James Shade (Colin Salmon) remains.

Though Shade avoids one additional laser wave, the Red Queen finally stops playing around and fires an impossible-to-escape boxed grid of lasers at him, which tech expert Kaplan (Martin Crewes) deactivates literally moments after the lasers pass through Shade's body.

And so, as Shade collapses in a pile of meaty cubes, we're left to wonder why, exactly, he didn't make use of the several feet of space behind him and brace right up against the door.

Had he just stepped back a few feet, he would've survived, but presumably because he thought Kaplan was going to save him in time, he just...stood there? This really isn't a situation where you should be making assumptions about things like that.
