10 Dumbest Decisions Made By Final Girls In Horror Movies

9. Laurie Drops The Knife TWICE - Halloween (1978)

Though Halloween's Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is the prototypical Final Girl in every sense of the phrase, she certainly tempted fate with one of her more baffling decisions during the original film's climax.

When Michael Myers (Nick Castle) attacks her with a knife downstairs, she manages to stab him in the neck with a knitting needle and take his knife. Michael falls down, apparently dead, and Laurie soon enough discards the knife.

Of course, Michael ends up back on the prowl a few minutes later, and during the iconic sequence where Laurie fends off Michael from the confines of a closet, she manages to again gain possession of his knife, using it to stab and incapacitate him.

Having not learned her lesson, though, Laurie again chucks the knife away after stepping past Michael's "corpse," and again Michael is roused back to life.

Michael attacks Laurie once more, and without the fortunate intervention of a gun-totting Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence), this likely would've been all she wrote for Laurie.

While it's reasonable to appreciate that regular folk don't much like wielding knives and all - especially those covered in your friends' gory remnants - Laurie's actions fall firmly into "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me" territory.
