Guardians Of The Galaxy really teased the audience with the question of who Star-Lords father was, which is an open invitation for people to speculate. Since the movie came out all sort of candidates have been suggested - from The Collector to Thanos and even Howard The Duck - with most recent being Captain Marvel, aka Mar-Vell from the Silver Age era. It had been suggested that this was the role that Matthew McConaughey recently passed on, but the theory was firmly shut down by director James Gunn himself. He commented on all the rumours, saying that none of them are even close to the truth, and that the movie wont rely on twists to keep people entertained. It's a long wait till Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 comes out, so expect plenty of more wild theories between now and then.
