3. Darth Vader And/Or The Emperor Will Return
At the climax of Return Of The Jedi, the Emperor was fell to his death down a big shaft thingy in the Death Star. Darth Vader died too, having finally seen his son with his own eyes. Anakin reappeared as a Force Ghost, proving that hes definitely dead as a dodo. While Force Ghosts might play a role in The Force Awakens, Im not convinced by the idea that the Emperor or Darth Vader will return in any other way. However, there are plenty of theories doing the rounds claiming that The Force Awakens will see Kylo Ren resurrect or clone the iconic baddies of the original trilogy. But that just seems like a foolish storytelling technique. To bring back Vader or the Emperor as evil clones or reincarnated versions of themselves would serve to undo the ending of Return Of The Jedi and essentially prove that Luke and co. never really saved the galaxy at all. Rather than nullify the narrative arcs of the original trilogy, then, its more likely that Kylo Ren and the other new baddies will take inspiration and ideas from the villains of old, before branching off in their own new direction. Again no-one wants a rehash of classic material.
