10 Dumbest "Smart" Movies Ever Made

1. Skyfall

Ironically, Skyfall's biggest dumb decision is in trying to present its villain as some sort of mega-genius. After all, there comes a point when making a character too clever simply seems stupid. This applies to Javier Bardem€™s Silva, in a big way. It turns out that he€™s predicted every tiny detail of the film€™s twisty second act well in advance. This goes all the way to rigging explosives in the exact tunnel where Bond would later chase him, and timing a tube train€™s arrival in perfect synchronisation. Yes, it€™s a cool action beat, but it€™s dumb, sloppy scripting. Despite all Silva€™s ingenious plans, his chosen method of trying to kill M is to barge into a court hearing and shoot the place up. As if, in that scenario, she wouldn€™t have been quite well guarded. Why didn€™t he just break out of his cell when she was in the same room as him, if he€™s so clever? He€™s seemingly only intelligent when the action demands it, but an idiot when it doesn't. It€™s frustrating to watch. Introducing Ben Whishaw as young, savvy Q was a pretty cool decision, admittedly. Clearly, he€™s meant to be a clever character. However, he makes the immensely stupid decision to plug Silva€™s virus-filled laptop directly into the MI6 mainframe without taking any security precautions. Moron.
